B Jack Farms

B Jack Farms is a first-generation egg farm run by Barry and Jessica Krahn as well as Cathy and Krista Harris, many of their kids have a hand in helping out as well. What started as a small hobby farm has now turned into a home for around 5,000 hens who lay organic eggs. The farm is also home to various other animals such as sheep and goats.

The draw to get into farming started as Krista and Jessica grew up on the property and always had backyard chickens but wanted to further utilize the land to turn into a small farm which they did in 2017 with the introduction of laying hens. They also enjoy the community that comes with egg farming and how willing other farms are to support. The lifestyle and ability to raise kids and work from home was another big deciding factor.

All four of them also have jobs outside of the farm. Krista and Cathy are firefighters while Jessica works as an elementary school teacher and Barry works for BC Hydro. In their spare time they all enjoy being together as a family and doing outdoor activities. They would like consumers to know is that as farmers it is an honor to create food for the local communities that we live in and that farmers work hard to create a fresh, local product that they are proud to consume themselves. They are also very thankful to ship their eggs to Island Eggs as it was instrumental in helping them get started as egg farmers.
